Fragile items need protection from impact, pressure and movement inside their packaging. Writing “fragile” on a box is helpful, but it cannot compensate for a weak carton or loose contents. Prepare delicate belongings separately and tell your removal team about items that need particular care.
Protect each item individually
Choose a sturdy box that leaves room for cushioning without encouraging you to overload it. Wrap pieces individually and place padding beneath, between and above them. The aim is to prevent hard surfaces from touching and to stop contents moving during handling.
For crockery, use suitable protective wrapping and dividers where available. Protect handles and other projecting parts on mugs, jugs and ornaments. Keep heavier items from pressing onto delicate pieces.
Close the box without forcing the lid. If the contents can move freely when the box is gently repositioned, improve the internal support before sealing it. Label the box clearly and identify the destination room.
Give mirrors and electronics suitable packaging
Mirrors, framed pictures and televisions are vulnerable to pressure on their faces and corners. Use purpose-made protective packaging appropriate to the item. Original packaging can be useful when it is complete, sound and still provides the intended support.
Follow the manufacturer’s handling instructions for electrical equipment. Photograph cable connections, label leads and pack accessories together. Avoid putting heavy items against screens or relying on a thin blanket as the only protection.
Large glass pieces, valuable artwork and especially delicate furniture may need specialist packing or handling. Raise these items when requesting a quote, not when the vehicle arrives.
Explain what the team will be collecting
For a furniture delivery in Bedfordshire, ask the seller how the item will be presented for collection. A photographed item in a furnished room may look very different once it has been dismantled or moved outside.
Confirm who is responsible for packing, whether packaging is included and whether the team needs to bring particular protective materials. A collection from a seller should not depend on an unspoken assumption that someone else will prepare the item.
LoadBadger can assess your enquiry using photographs, dimensions and handling information. Tell us about fragile belongings when arranging a move or delivery in Luton and Bedfordshire so any additional requirements can be discussed before booking.
